Part-time volunteer

The Kennel Club Picture Library

Looking for part-time volunteers or work experience students for 2017

Enjoy photography and dogs?

We are looking for short term work experience volunteers in the prestigious and historic Kennel Club Picture Library located in Mayfair.  The Kennel Club Picture Library is part of the Kennel Club Art Gallery and Collections department of the Kennel Club which manages a vast amount of dog related content old and new and in art and photographic mediums.  We invested in a digital asset management system in 2013 which allows us to manage complex metadata for our various image collections.

As a work experience volunteer you could assist with any of the following:  picture research, keywording, metadata, scanning, Photoshop touch up, inventory of certain collections, archiving digitally or organising physical prints.

Ideally love or like dogs (as we sometimes have a four legged intern called Louis who works with us) and you would like to learn how a small picture library operates for research, education and commercial purposes.  We have both internal and external clients so there is a breadth of areas to learn the day to day operations of a very productive picture library.  Ideally you are a student and want or need work experience for your studies or credit towards your degree in photography, digital asset management or picture library management.

Ideally you should know how to use a PC well and have some experience with the following:  Photoshop CS6 or CC, outlook, word, excel, and understand what DPI and metadata are.

Length of volunteering is short term however; we prefer students or volunteers who can commit to at least 6-7 consecutive weeks (2 days a week) to gain the most experience in such a brief period.

Hours of business are M- F, 9:00am - 5:00pm although volunteer hours are 9:30 am - 4:45 pm

This is short term work experience opportunity which is unpaid with no travel or expense budget.

This is ideal for a London based student or someone who is looking to start a new career in this industry and needs some work experience.
