Explore selected anniversaries up to 2022
For those who like to plan for the future, Mary Evans Picture Library now have a thorough selection of anniversaries on their website up to the end of 2022.
Important dates for that year include the centenary of the BBC, the 250th anniversary of the birth of poet Coleridge and 100 years since Judy Garland’s birth.
Looking a little less far ahead, next year is 500 years since King Henry VIII’s spectacular meeting with the French king, Francis I, on the Field of the Cloth of Gold, and 200 years since the birth of novelist and poet Anne Bronte. It’s also the 75th anniversary of VE Day (which means the May Day bank holiday 2020 will be put back to Friday 8th May).
