Ashmolean Museum Picture Library

Beaumont Street, Oxford OX1 2PH, United Kingdom

The Ashmolean, Britain’s first museum, houses an extraordinarily diverse collection of over one million objects.

Spanning the Prehistoric to the Victorian eras, our Antiquities collection includes objects from Ancient Greece, Rome, Crete, Near East, Egypt, Cyprus, early and medieval Europe.

Exceptional Western Art holdings include paintings, drawings, prints and decorative arts from 1300 to the present day.

Our Eastern Art collections contain material from China, India, Central Asia, Japan and the Islamic world while our Coin Room houses over 300,000 coins and medals.

Since 2006 the Picture Library has worked with our in-house Photographic Studio supplying digital images and prints.

Over 125,000 images are available and our stock is continually expanding.

Customers can also commission new photography of any object in the museum’s collection.

We provide prompt, knowledgeable service and can undertake research, identifying or suggesting suitable images from our on-line and off-line databases.
