June highlights from Nature Picture Library

Subantarctic or Brown skua (Stercorarius antarcticus) stealing an egg from a Royal penguin colony (Eudyptes schlegeli) on Macquarie Island, Australian Territory

A fascinating mix of new material has been added to our site this month. Flamingos feature prominently, including an in-depth study of the Caribbean flamingo by Claudio Contreras. Other highlights include Kirlian images from Pal Hermansen, mountain hares and red foxes at night, and bizarre slime moulds by Andy Sands. You will also find breathtaking British landscapes, pygmy squid from Japan and a range of Asian, African and Australian flora and fauna.

Read the full stories behind the images in our June highlights blog or browse the full selection in our June highlights gallery.

And of course we also have a new June highlights prints gallery if you’d like to order a print product.
