The British Antarctic Survey’s picture library contains stunning images from the frozen continent.

Spectacular scenery, engaging penguins and scientists living and working in the Earth’s most pristine natural laboratory from the core of a unique collection.

The BAS, responsible for most of the UK’s research effort in Antarctica, follows a tradition of employing professional photographers to record its activities and events in this globally important region.

In addition to the contemporary collection, the BAS Archives has in excess of 26,000 images dating from 1944.
