The MERL is owned and managed by the University of Reading.
Established in 1951 with the aim to capture & record the changing countryside the photographic collections now number more than a million images.
The collection is an important resource covering all aspects of agriculture, the countryside, its people work & industry.
The collection is particularly strong in images of country people, rural crafts, working horses & all aspects of farming.
