Scott Polar Research Institute Picture Library

University of Cambridge, Lensfield Road, Cambridge CB2 1ER, United Kingdom

An archival collection of Arctic and Antarctic photography, recording the history of polar exploration, travel, work and science from the late 19th Century to the present.

An excellent source for anyone requiring illustrative material depicting any aspect of the polar world, from the heroic age of early explorers to today’s scientists and tourists; from polar bears to penguins.

The collection includes the expeditions of Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton.

We also have a large collection of polar art, notably the work of Edward Wilson, George Marston and Sir John Ross.

Visitors are welcome by appointment.
