Job Summary

As Image Licensing Manager you will be responsible forlicensing images and sound from IWM's collections for commercial use anddeveloping new business, particularly within the media industries. You willalso be motivating a small licensing team to meet their monthly/quarterlytargets and handling key accounts.

Image & Film Licensing Department

IWM’s multimedia collections cover all aspects of conflictsin which British, Commonwealth or former Empire countries have been involvedsince the start of the 20th century, including photographs, artworks, oralhistory recordings and film. The Image & Film Licensing department isresponsible for granting reproduction rights and supplying digital assets tocreative professionals working across all media sectors, from publishing to broadcast.We have ambitious plans to continually develop our licensing business byoptimising the customer experience, increasing access to our digitisedcollection, and building new revenue opportunities.

Key duties

You will be expected to work independently as well as acrossdifferent teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of IWM -using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability.You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensurevalue for money at all times while being professional, courteous anddemonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all IWM employees. Youwill also adhere to all corporate standards, and use corporate systems asdirected to ensure consistency of service, brand and operational standards.

You will be expected to work across departments effectively,working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers.

To identify and implement learning and development needs forboth yourself and your team, including volunteers, if appropriate.

In addition, your duties will include:

Line management for team

• Overseeing recruitment and training of team members,identifying knowledge gaps and sharing knowledge of processes and procedures,as directed by Head of Image & Film Licensing

• Leading the team day-to-day, being on-hand for feedbackand guidance.

• Ensuring the highest standards of customer service aremet, with enquiries delegated and responded to within an agreed timeframe.

• Ensuring that targets are met by holding regular check-insto set objectives and monitor progress.

Business development and planning

• Maintaining relationships with key customers, ensuring thebusiness potential with them is fully met.

• Keeping informed about industry trends and competitors fornew opportunities to license our content.

• Actively seeking out and engaging with businessdevelopment opportunities to achieve targets, by involvement in activities suchas targeted email campaigns and pitches.

• Representing IWM effectively at networking events withcomprehensive knowledge of our offerings.

• Working with senior management to support DigitalTransformation projects and review our pricing structure, ensuring they aredelivering the best needs of the business.

• Managing relationships with key departments across IWM,including Curatorial, Visual Resources, Customer Service, Press, BrandLicensing, Partnerships, Publishing.

Reporting

• Providing weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting onbusiness activities for image licencing matters, communicating sales forecasts,revenue generated and pipeline.

• Monitoring, identifying and developing areas forimprovements in business growth, revenue generation, customer service qualityand efficiencies.

Customer service, administration and account management

• Facilitating the access, supply, and licensing of digitalassets to media professionals.

• Responding promptly to copyright and licensing enquiries,with excellent customer service.

• Providing research assistance by developing a goodknowledge of collections, offering tailored image solutions, and educatingclients on search tips, consulting with curators as required.

• Ensuring that invoices are raised promptly, and that anyoverdue accounts are chased.

• Supporting Finance with allocation of payments, estimatingaccrued payments and accurately completing tax and other finance forms.

• Working across departments to arrange digitisation ofmuseum objects for client requests.

• Negotiation of fees relating to the use of IWM digitalassets, ensuring customers are aware of IWM licensing policies and T&Cs,maintaining a general awareness of copyright law in relation to images.

• Assisting other departments in their use of IWM material(checking copyright)
