Focusing on Text and Data Mining (TDM) updates and BAPLA Lobbying Work on Copyright Protections
The BAPLA Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday 27 July and led by members of the lobbying team, Anna Skurczynska of Open Plan Law and Corky Balch, BAPLA Board.
This meeting will focus on recent updates surrounding Text and Data Mining (TDM), Government plans to produce a code of practice to support AI firms, and the continued work the BAPLA lobbying team have been involved in to protect copyright.
The relationship between intellectual property law and generative AI, as well as the government's stance on this is still very
unclear. BAPLA have been working alongside other organisations such as the Alliance for Intellectual Property (AIP); British Copyright Council (BCC) and the Association of Photographers (AOP) in lobbying the government and help develop legislation that limits tech companies training AI on copyrighted works without license. We need to ensure that rights holders voices are heard, their intellectual property protected and that regulatory clarity is ensured. Join us to find out more.
