A medieval jewel set in the heart of the Chianti Countryside, Siena’s towers soar skyward over the Piazza del Campo. The city revels in its medieval heritage with pageants aplenty, among them the world famous Palio horse race. In the countryside, the pace is slower on the roads that wind into the hills to the abbeys and vineyards where Chianti’s famous wines sleep and mature in the wineries’ cool dark cellars.
