Brand New Anniversaries

Collage of images relating to historical anniversaries

We do like to plan well ahead here at Mary Evans, and endeavour to keep the Historical Anniversaries pages on our website a good number of years ahead. These illustrated reminders, with a smart new layout, have recently been updated to include the most interesting and important anniversaries up to 2025, giving you over four years of dates to peruse for ideas and information.

Highlights next year include the 50th anniversaries of iconic films The Godfather and Cabaret, while it’s also the 100th anniversaries of the birth of Judy Garland, the founding of the BBC, and the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Looking further ahead, commemoration-worthy events in 2023 include the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the NHS in Britain, while in 2024, 500 years will have slipped by since the death of Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. 1775 was obviously a busy year with the births of painter J.M.W. Turner and author Jane Austen, who will both be 250 in 2025. And of course it was the first year of fighting in the American Revolutionary War.
