They say March “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb” so for this month we have taking inspiration from the old proverb by sharing this dramatic scene of a lioness chasing pelicans, captured by National Geographic photographer Charlie Hamilton-James.

Charlie Hamilton James is an award-winning English photographer, photojournalist, cameraman and presenter who focuses on wildlife, conservation and anthropology. He works with National Geographic to tell wildlife stories from around the world.

His work covers a variety of different subjects ranging from poaching in Kenya to rat temples in India. Charlie’s photographs are often taken with homemade equipment he has invented or modified himself. As well as creating compelling photo-stories, Charlie also creates wildlife films. These have been shown on BBC Springwatch and on channels such as Animal Planet.

He has won multiple awards, including two National Television Society awards and has been nominated for both a BAFTA and an Emmy. Take a look at more of Charlie’s great images here.
