akg-images press release.

Managing Director David Price-Hughes will be leaving akg-images in London on Friday 21 August to pursue other business opportunities within the industry. He will be succeeded as Managing Director by Angelika Pirkl, who has been with the company since 2008.

After reading History of Art at Cambridge University and working as a graphic designer, David joined akg-images as a researcher in 2002 and was promoted to Managing Director seven years ago. “It has been a pleasure to spend the last thirteen years surrounded by a stunning archive of images and a fantastic team, not only in our London office but also in Paris and Berlin,” David says. “I am excited about my own future and am very pleased that Angelika is taking up the reins in London. akg-images London will, I am sure, continue to excel under her leadership.”

Angelika Pirkl completed her degree in European Studies at the University of Royal Holloway in 2006 and went on to work for Lebrecht Photo Library before joining the akg-images team in London in June 2008. Angelika says: “As Senior Picture Researcher at akg-images I have come to know and cherish this remarkable and eclectic image collection. As Managing Director I now look forward to seizing exciting business opportunities, helping to grow and promote our collection even further”.

akg-images CEO Friedrich Goepel welcomed Angelika’s appointment, adding: “While we’re sad to see David leave, we’re happy to have a competent successor in Angelika, who knows the business well and is passionate about it.”
